Position Title: Gun Violence Prevention Program Coordinator (Grant FT)

General Summary: Coordinate and administer all activities of the Gun Violence Prevention Grant. Help plan and coordinate recruitment of eligible students within the specified regions. Supervise and support the program Student Success and Community Success Coaches.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work or related field; previous program management experience, two years direct work experience with students in a secondary or post-secondary educational institution. Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

Duties:

1. Provides management of Gun Violence Prevention Program, including recruitment, supervision, training and evaluation of Success Coaches and providing professional development.

2.Develops process and procedures for establishing record keeping mechanisms in support of an in compliance with the grant.

3. Prepares, monitors and manages grant budget.

4. Maintains close contact with community partners to monitor student performance and hold weekly meetings with community partners and coaches to discuss the progress of students.

5.Plan and help coaches with recruitment of students to participate in the Gun Violence Prevention Program Grant.

6.Works with success coaches and community mental health provider to ensure academic support and assistance are effectively provided to students. Include program planning, information sharing and assistance in completing necessary forms.

7. Compiles and maintains detailed and statistical data.

8. Prepares and submits reports as required and requested for grant purposes.

9. Travels to college campuses and centers to monitor student progress and arrange support services.

10. Serves as a liaison with community partners, Workforce and Job Readiness, Financial Aid, Supportive Services, Advisement, etc.

11. Maintains record of student contacts and progress using the record keeping database provided by the state.

12. Facilitates planning for facilitated study, tutoring, workshops, and support and/or other academic assistance for students.

13. Attends meetings and training sessions as required for Gun Violence Prevention Program personnel.

14. Arranges workshops on special topics, such as time management, stress management and financial literacy for Gun Violence Prevention Program students.

15. Assists in establishing criteria for measuring success as it relates to placement, retention, and career awareness.

16.Performs other related duties as necessary and as assigned.

Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check. The College has provided instructions on how to obtain these clearances and are available here.

Vaccination: Effective November 1, 2021, as a condition of employment, all new employees of Community College of Allegheny County must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of their vaccination or have received an approved exemption to be an employee. Prospective employees who are offered a position can request an exemption from this vaccine requirement for religious or documented medical reasons. Exemption requests will be reviewed for approval on a case-by-case basis by the Office of Human Resources.
