Environmental Scientist

Dine College Water is Life Center is hiring a full-time environmental scientist to design and execute sample collection and analysis of samples of environmental health and research relevance. Will coordinate collection trips with Center Investigators, students and other staff to fulfill the research priorities of the Water is Life Center. Also will design and maintain a GIS-linked database of environmental findings across the Navajo Nation and surroundings.

Duty Schedule: Full-time professional environmental scientist position. 40+ hours per week supervised by Center Investigators with extensive work at outdoor sites across the Navajo Nation and onsite at one of the Dine College campuses.

Minimum Qualification: B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related discipline or equivalent experience. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and environmental field experience. Should be familiar with Dine traditions and traditional ecological knowledge and concerns.

Preferred Qualification: Three years of field environmental science research. Experience reporting to and consulting with various tribal base constituencies and agencies. Knowledge of hydrological testing and basic water quality assays.
