Summary/Objective of Position:
Under the direction of the Vice-President for Campuses and Centers and the Director of Libraries, the Branch Librarian at the Senator John Pinto Library will administer the day-to-day operations of the library at Dine College's campus in Shiprock, New Mexico. Supervises two FTE library technicians. Serves patrons at the Reference/Circulation desk. Provides Information Literacy instruction.
Essential Functions of the Position
55% Under the direction of the Shiprock Campus Director and the
Director of Libraries, the Branch Librarian at the Senator John
Pinto Library will administer the day-to-day operations of the
library at Dine College ' s campus in Shiprock, New Mexico.
Supervises three FTE library technicians. Serves patrons at the
Reference/Circulation desk. Provides Information Literacy
instruction.
5% Supervises, trains, and evaluates library staff and student
workers.
5% Engages in both short-term and long-term planning efforts in
concert with other libraries in the Dine College system.
10% Serves patrons at the Reference/Circulation desk. May include
some evening and/or weekend hours.
10% Provides appropriate programming for the campus and the
community.
10% Engages as an active member of the Shiprock Campus.
5% Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Master's degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
At least two years of experience at an academic library at either the professional or paraprofessional level. Familiarity with library management systems and other technological aspects of library operation. Supervisory experience in any setting.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with library software and hardware.
Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
Abilities:
Ability to work effectively both in a team and
independently.
Ability to work pleasantly and cooperatively with faculty, staff,
and students.
Ability to supervise the work of others effectively and
efficiently.
