Scope of Job:
Manages graphic designers/artists who prepare visual presentations through designing art and copy layouts for publication. Responsible for workflow, project distribution, and feedback of graphic design team.

Description of Duties:
• Supervises team of graphic designers in University Marketing & Communications, providing guidance, design feedback and ensuring operations follow the direction of the Director of Creative Services.
• Directly serves select high-priority internal clients in a graphic designer capacity as the most senior graphic designer on the team.
• Supports Director of Creative Services in development and implementation of university design guidelines, such as use of logo, licensing issues, and Brand Identity & Style Guide.
• Ensures all content from Marketing Coordination and Strategy team and/or internal clients is clear and complete before assigning projects to graphic designers, meets as needed to solicit more information or clarification, and ensures expected quality of deliverables is met.
• Manages all projects from production to distribution, establishing and closely monitoring priorities and project production schedules.
• Oversees, monitors, and reviews work of graphic design staff and provides appropriate creative guidance and design feedback.
• Meets with vendors and printing companies, requests bids, evaluates options, and makes recommendations on cost-saving alternatives.
• Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:
General supervision from the assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Supervises assigned professional and support staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Advertising, Graphic Design or a related field from an accredited University.

Preferred Education:
None.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
Five (5) years experience in a graphic design, including supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience:
Experience supervising print production and managing vendor relationships. Expertise in typography.

Equipment:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Knowledge and experience with a wide variety of software and computer hardware.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office environment.

Other:
Must have ability to work under pressure and ability to interact with community partners. Excellent verbal and written skills. Some evening and/or weekend work. Some travel might be required.
