Job Description

NAU Enrollment Services is seeking one (1) skilled, experienced, and motivated Business Analyst, Intermediate or Business Analyst, Senior to join our team. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of the organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrates behavior consistent with the core values and support the Division of Enrollment Management's strategic plan. This position may require heavy workloads during peak operational periods, requiring work beyond normal hours and during non-standard work hours. Position reports to the Director of Institutional Research, Planning Analysis, Enrollment Services and will be working with offices of Enrollment Services which includes Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA), Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation (UAO), and Student Services Center. The individual in this position serves as a liaison between Academic Affairs and Information Technology Services.

Job Duties:

Business Analyst, Intermediate

User Support - 40%

  • Analyzes Oracle/PeopleSoft and other system applications and issues impacting the assigned functional areas.
  • In coordination with the Information Technology Services and other administrative business analysts, identifies and investigates Oracle/PeopleSoft and other system problems, issues, and circumstances and provides recommendations, alternatives, risks, and benefits of system modification to the change request management board.
  • Identifies and responds to end-user questions, issues, and service opportunities.
  • Executes work priorities in accordance with project planning time sensitivity, changing work demands, and NAU policies and practices.
  • Represents Enrollment Management on issues related to campus community, academic structure, admissions, and data integrity.
  • Supports the Enrollment Management offices with other technologies such as OnBase, Qualtrics, Service Now, Salesforce, and other software solutions.
  • Manages access to Enrollment Management systems.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities for Enrollment Management batch processing questions and problems discovered off-hours.

Business Process Improvement - 40%

  • Reports on work accomplishments and identifies system issues in a logical, clear, and thorough manner.
  • Works collaboratively and builds relationships with other business analysts, processing units and ITS department personnel.
  • Assesses business processes and recommends workflow improvements.
  • Assesses and documents specifications for business processes.

System Fixes & Updates - 15%

  • Monitors or manages tickets, updates, fixes and enhancements in advance of the business units. Creates documentation, reports and planning documents on the use of new or enhanced Peoplesoft updates.
  • Works collaboratively with information resource management team to define data needs and to design reports for the processing office(s) and campus use.
  • Coordinates system and integration testing of vendor updates and system upgrades for Enrollment Management.

Other - 5%

  • Committee work and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Contributes to the conceptual design of information systems to support the by conducting needs analysis, documenting business requirements and recommending business process solutions.
  • Analyzes new Oracle/PeopleSoft modules and makes recommendations to management on new system functionality.
  • Mainly works independently and has latitude with decision making about matters of significance; may receive general instruction and clarification on complex problems.
  • Implements new Enrollment Management solutions with other technologies such as OnBase, Qualtrics, Service Now, Salesforce, and other software solutions.

Business Process Improvement - 40%

Minimum Qualifications

Business Analyst, Intermediate

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Business Analysis, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years or more of relevant experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Business Analyst, Senior

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Business Analysis, or a related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Business systems support experience in higher education.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, SalesForce, ServiceNOW, OnBase, and other cloud solutions.
  • The ability to read and write SQL.
  • Working knowledge of Admission Processing, Financial Aid, and Academic Structure.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with requirements management tools and software for documenting business process, requirements, and testing.
  • Experience taking a business process and automating it with the implementation of a software solution.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Query.
  • Experience with data warehouse, Business Objects, Tableau or other reporting systems.
  • Understanding of interactions between university business units.
  • Experience using Oracle/PeopleSoft products and tools, and skill in a variety of Oracle/PeopleSoft techniques, methods, processes, and practices.
  • Experience managing projects
