Centenary College of Louisiana invites applications for the founding director of its Center for Teaching and Learning. The CTL Director provides leadership and coordination of faculty development and student academic support activities with the aim of enhancing pedagogy, learning, and student success in support of the college’s mission to prepare global citizens to live productive lives of vitality and purpose.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the CTL Director will be responsible for providing a centralized “hub” to incubate effective teaching among faculty, promote faculty development, and to provide increased support for student learning and academic integration. To fulfill this purpose, the founding director will:

 Design and deliver regular faculty development activities to support effective and inclusive pedagogy, including teaching in multiple modalities for specialized student

  • Develop and implement a data-informed approach to faculty development and student success, including integrating tools into the college's LMS (Canvas), collect and report data on a regular
  • Coordinate with Academic Affairs, Library Services, Student Support, Integrated Advising, and Counseling and Disability Services to further enhance holistic faculty and student
  • Consolidate the writing center and tutor functions, as well as offer regular workshops (study skills, time-management, how to do presentations, ) all in one location.
  • In collaboration with the College's faculty and Director of Career Development and Internships, coordinate and supervise, internship and research opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate level on projects and topics related to teaching and learning.
  • If appropriate, teach in an academic

 

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree and a minimum of three years of related experience; demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning; excellent collaboration, leadership, communication, and management skills.

 

Preference will be given to candidates with a terminal degree in a related field; scholarly contributions to the fields of teaching and learning or other educational research; and/or experience with a selective, residential, liberal arts college.
