 Job Description or Duties

The Department of Teacher Education is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in Reading/Literacy at the Assistant rank to begin in the Fall of 2022.  The successful candidate will teach reading/literacy courses in undergraduate and graduate programs. We also seek a candidate who is knowledgeable of culturally responsive teaching. All faculty members have student advising responsibilities, are required to engage in scholarship, and provide service. Both scholarship and service will display a variety of engagement at the department/college/university/state/regional/national/international levels. Additional responsibilities include program development and implementation; development of university/school partnerships; assisting with CAEP accreditation preparation, and other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:  Must have an earned doctorate in education with an emphasis in Reading or Literacy Education, though an ABD status may be considered. Qualified candidates with an ABD status will be considered with completion by the time of hire. Must hold, or have held, a valid teaching license/certificate and have a minimum of three years of successful P-12 teaching in reading or literacy courses. Must have demonstrated experience with assessment, curriculum, and instruction of students. Must provide evidence of or plan for scholarly activity. Evidence of experience with culturally and linguistically diverse learners.


Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include a candidate who holds a Reading Specialist Endorsement or other reading specialty training. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated scholarly activity, teaching experience using multiple technologies, and teaching experience with face-to-face instruction and online instruction. Preference to someone with course development experience.
