The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) invites applications for a tenure-track position in the School of Education at the rank of Assistant Professor, with proposed starting date of July 1, 2022. The successful candidate will show clear evidence of, or potential for, research productivity. The successful candidate will teach in the M.Ed. and the B.Ed. programs. Academic preparation and experience in one or more areas of teacher education, exceptionalities education and/or educational leadership is required. Graduate course delivery may require travel to regional locations and the delivery of online courses. The candidate must be willing to supervise multiple graduate students’ research, as well as contribute to program administration, as assigned by the Chair of the School of Education. A high service load, involving collaboration with colleagues on a variety of activities within the School of Education and the university, is expected. Cross-cultural and northern British Columbian, including Aboriginal/Indigenous, cultural safety is essential.

Applicants for this position should hold a doctorate and have a growing record of scholarly activity, as well as present evidence of and commitment to teaching excellence. For this position, we seek an individual with particular record of teaching excellence in the K-12 schools and/or teacher education, or familiarity with K-12 education, teaching, and learning. Demonstrated experience and focus in Indigenous education is preferred.

They are the Dunne-Za people. The Northwest campus in Terrace is situated on traditional Ts’msyen (Tsimshian) territory of the Kitsumkalum and Kitselas First Nations. It includes a satellite campus in the coastal community of Prince Rupert.
