The Learning Systems Institute (LSI) and the FAMU-FSU College of
Engineering at Florida State University invite applications for a
nine-month, tenured or tenure track assistant, or associate
professor position, jointly appointed. We seek a colleague
committed to research, mentorship, teaching, and advising
incorporating equity,inclusion and belonging as guiding
principles.
LSI has a long and distinguished record of engagement in
educational research and development in Asia, Latin America,
Africa, and the Middle East. Founded in 1969, it is one of the
oldest, largest, and most productive university-based education
research organizations in the United States, attracting more than
$700 million in grants and contracts from 130 funding agencies,
including the U.S. Agency for International Development, National
Science Foundation, US Department of Education, US Department of
Defense, Florida Department of Education,and several others. At
present, approximately 100 LSI faculty and staff are engaged in
more than forty-five active projects with activities in 13
countries across four continents. LSI is also the home of the
Florida Center for Research in STEM (FCR-STEM). FCR-STEM is the
state’s official research and development center for K-12 STEM
education. FCR-STEM was founded in 2007 and has attracted more than
$150 million in external grant funding for basic research,
curriculum development, teacher professional development, and
innovative teaching and learning technologies.
The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is the unique combination of

Responsibilities
- Engaging in a well-defined scholarship agenda focused on engineering education;
- Teaching graduate courses in engineering;
- Advising graduate students in MS, online EdD, and PhD programs;
- Serving on student graduate committees, including eventually chairing PhD, and EdD student dissertations;
- Providing service to the university, the department, the college, and the profession;
- Developing and maintaining a robust externally funded research program;
- Encouraged to generate and lead externally funded research and/or development projects;
- Advise doctoral students, chair doctoral student dissertation committees, teach graduate courses, contribute to academic service, and define and sustain an innovative and externally funded program of research focused on engineering education.
Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in engineering education or another engineering field from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service;
- Evidence of high-quality scholarship (e.g., recent publications in peer reviewed journals, working papers,recent presentations at national or international conferences);
- Experience conducting research and/or development projects in engineering education;
- Demonstrated or potential for success in garnering external funding for research;
- Commitment to and experience working with diverse student populations;
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Post-doctoral experience in related field is preferred.
- Preferred candidates will have experience with development and implementation of innovative approaches to teaching and learning in the field of engineering.
- Expertise on engineering education programs in K-12 and/or higher education.
