DPI invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Student Experiential Immersion Programs. This position is an extraordinary opportunity for an exceptionally qualified individual to envision and lead new models for immersive student programming. The Director will work in collaboration with Deans and faculty from DPI’s academic partners to develop, design and implement immersive and academic programming for students that complement their home campus curricula and prepare them for their future careers. By 2029 DPI will engage 2000 Immersion students per year; 40% of whom will be from underrepresented groups (Black, Latino/a and women).

 

 

As the Director of Student Experiential Immersion Programs, this individual will envision and lead new models for immersive student programming. The Director will work in collaboration with Deans and faculty from DPI's academic partners to develop, design and implement immersive and academic programming for students that complement their home campus curricula and prepare them for their future careers. By 2029 DPI will engage 2000 Immersion students per year.

 

 

In close collaboration with the DPI Talent Director, the Director of Student Experiential Immersion Programs is responsible for directing and overseeing program creation and management of the diverse portfolio of DPI's immersion programs. There will be a focus on the digital tech economy and this role will manage the extensive experiential component which is the heart of this program.

 

 

Additional responsibilities include:

 

Duties:

  1. Creating overall strategic vision and framework for the portfolio of immersion programs at DPI.
  2. Collaborating with deans, faculty, and academic units to develop immersive and experiential programming that contributes to overall learning goals and objectives for degree seeking students.
  3. Building a high-quality pipeline of diverse candidates (40% Black, Latino/a and women) to take part in our experiential programs through partnership with CBO's and FBO's and engagement with underrepresented serving organizations on campus.
  4. Developing and leading a team that will manage immersion programs, interact with constituents, and implement program delivery for both individual student participants and external constituencies.
  5. Developing, implementing, and overseeing a process and plan for identifying and incorporating immersion programs under the broader program umbrella.
  6. Overseeing the development and maintenance of relationships with Chicago-based employers to generate revenue needed to fund the program, cultivate, and sustain relations, as well as further expand student immersive opportunities and promote out-of-the-classroom experiences and learning activities for the immersion programs.
  7. Recruiting and collaborating with faculty across DPI partner academic departments to develop and implement course offerings.
  8. Facilitating ongoing interaction with employers, organizations, faculty, and other stakeholders to ensure the success and sustainability of the immersion programs.
  9. Developing, implementing, and overseeing a business strategy and financial model to define how each program can scale and ensure the sustainability of each program
  10. Ensuring desired outcomes are achieved from programs by evaluating and measuring program effectiveness.
  11. Represent DPI on various committees and initiatives in Chicago and within the State of Illinois.

 

Qualifications:

 

Candidates must possess a minimum of a master's degree in business, engineering, or field related to the position, doctorate strongly preferred. Substantial experience in the development and implementation of immersive and/or experiential education.

 

Other requirements include:

 

  1. At least three to five years of relevant immersion experience.
  2. Thorough understanding of academic program requirements for co-curricular experiences. Course, curriculum and/or degree program development experience strongly preferred.
  3. Demonstrated ability and comfort working with corporate, civic and university leadership.
  4. Prior startup or business building experience is desirable.
  5. Depending on qualifications and experience, the directorship may include a faculty appointment at one or more of the universities within the University of Illinois System.
