Position Summary:
The Chief of Police is to provide a safe environment on the campus, thereby protecting life and property. The incumbent administers all services provided by the University Police department including, but not limited to, the campus police function, police dispatch center (telecommunications), security-related functions, crime prevention and awareness, crime victims' assistance programs, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

Minimum Experience:
· Five years of law enforcement management experience is required. · Ten years of total law enforcement experience is required.

Minimum Licensure and Certification:
Required Licensure/Certification:
· Kentucky Police Officer Certification is required, including Kentucky POPS.· Must be a sworn police officer while employed.· Valid state driver’s license is required.· Professional Rescuer Certification maintained.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: · Knowledge of emergency/disaster/recovery plans. · Knowledge of comprehensive statistical data reporting systems and their maintenance. · Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures. · Knowledge of police records management policies and procedures.· Use of firearms· Ability to positively work with others to achieve positive outcomes.· Maintenance of emergency response training and capabilities.· Basic Photography· Motor vehicle operation and inspection· Report Composition· Basic fingerprint and latent fingerprint search and development· Crime scene search· Interrogation· Knowledge of laws and regulations· Knowledge of university organization, personnel operations· Traffic Control· Accident Investigation· Leadership· Supervisory skills· Organizational skills· Ability to motivate others· Law enforcement procedures and methods· Budgeting· Strategic Planning· Personal computer applications· Police leadership/management
