Singapore Management University (SMU) has started a global search for its inaugural Vice President (Partnerships & Engagement). Founded only in 2000, SMU has become a premier specialist university in Asia, recognised for its world-class research and for offering a transformative education for a new generation of graduates and leaders.
As a key member of the University’s top management team and reporting to the President, the Vice President is responsible for delivering the University’s strategy to be an ‘Engaged City University’, primarily in the areas of industry partnership; innovation & entrepreneurship; and international partnerships. Key strategic priorities framing SMU’s partnership and engagement agenda are digital transformation, sustainable living, and growth in Asia.
The role – overseeing the Office of Industry Engagement, Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the International Office and the Office of Overseas Centres - is central to SMU’s ambitious growth agenda and will require leadership from someone with passion for the transformative power of education and research (and credibility to provide inspiration in a high performing academic environment), outstanding communication skills and team spirit to drive a ‘one university agenda’, and considerable agility, charisma and commercial acumen. The ability to handle the portfolio’s breadth and diversity is essential, as is the capacity to enhance networks at city, regional and international level.
