  • The EOF Admissions Recruiter & First Year Student Counselor serves as the primary contact between prospective students, their families and their family, school counselors and advisors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Through representing the University at on- and off-campus events, this position is responsible for educating community and educational partners about both, Georgian Court University and the EOF Program at our institution. They will be responsible for managing an inquiry and applicant pool and for reviewing and any materials submitted by the applicant for the purpose of admitting students to GCU and into the EOF Program.

    They are also expected to communicate with prospective students, primarily by in-person appointments, telephone, email, texting, social media sites, and video/virtual chat on the admissions process and opportunities at Georgian Court University.

    In close consultation with the AVP for Undergraduate Admissions & the Chief Diversity Officer for Students Affairs & EOF Director, the EOF Admissions Recruiter & First Year Student Counselor will manage ongoing strategic communications between prospective students, their families—as well as school counselors, advisors and other community partners who are critical to the EOF Admissions process.

    This position requires the ability to travel statewide; it also includes evening and weekend hours.

    The incumbent must possess a strategic and curious mind with an ability to communicate and create interest in the University with prospective students. This professional must be enthusiastic, people-oriented and enjoy working with high school and college students. Because of its dual reporting structure, the EOF Admissions Recruiter & Counselor is housed in both the EOF Office and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The ideal employee will have great organizational and communication skills—in an effort to address the needs of both departments.

    Responsibilities
  • Attending recruitment events & making presentations at high schools, community colleges and other organizations (virtually or in person) that have EOF eligible students across the state of New Jersey.
  • Developing & maintaining professional relationships with community partners (i.e., guidance counselors, coaches, parents/guardians) to ensure that the students are aware of the admissions/financial aid deadlines and that their materials are received in a timely fashion
  • Remaining in constant contact with prospective students through multiple mediums, including individual appointments, telephone, email, texting, social media sites and video/virtual chat.
  • Planning and organizing on-campus events (i.e., group tours, visits, etc.) for EOF eligible students, in coordination with Undergraduate Admissions, the EOF Program and other departments as appropriate.
  • Inputting and processing the students’ admissions records in SLATE; updating and maintaining accurate information for departmental reports.
  • Submitting EOF applications to the EOF Director for final review; scheduling students for EOF Interviews and sending acceptance/denial communication to the students & families
  • Networking with high school guidance counselors, parents, and prospective students to finalize acceptances
  • Providing daily counseling support to incoming freshmen during the six-week residential Summer Program
  • Collaborating with the EOF Program staff to provide programming, workshops, etc. to incoming & returning EOF scholars
  • Providing the EOF Director with assessment/evaluative data to complete the state-mandated Annual Reports
  • Providing EOF Director and the AVP for Undergraduate Admissions (or his/her designee) with their Travel Calendar, private visits, etc. on a determined regular basis.
  • Completing Expense Report for recruitment travel on the date (determined by the Office of Admissions).
  • Assisting EOF incoming & first-year students with personal, financial and/or any other matters that can affect his/her success at the institution. S/he will refer the student to the appropriate campus resource that can further assist them.
  • Interacting & corresponding with University partners (i.e., the Office of Financial Aid, Residence Life, Student Life, etc.) for recruitment & admissions purposes
  • Assisting with all on-campus recruitment events (i.e., Open House, Phone-A-Thons, Accepted Students Day, Transfer Fairs, Information Sessions, etc.).
  • Understanding, applying, maintaining and ensuring all student information is accurate and complete and in compliance with mandatory University, state and federal policies regarding data and the recruitment and admission of students, such as FERPA, ADA and more.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of university curriculum, rules, regulations, and guidelines applicable to students.
  • Identifying and attending at least one professional development seminar and presenting the information to the enrollment staff.
  • Representing the office on a variety of University committees.
  • Integrating the core values of respect, compassion, integrity, justice and service in all aspects of interaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 1+ years of experience with admissions, marketing or sales
  • Valid driver’s license from State of residency.
  • Availability and willingness to work evenings and weekend hours.
  • Excellent professional demeanor
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other email, database and spreadsheet applications and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals
  • Excellent listening, communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate clearly in person and writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, students and the general public
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently, completing work in a thorough and timely manner and balancing competing demands with courtesy and tact
  • Ability to courteously and accurately provide information to employees, students and the general public
  • Ability to quickly learn and retain a large body of general University information, including activities, functions, personnel, rules, policies, regulations, procedures, etc.
The preferred but not required qualifications for this position are:
  • Experience with Ellucian Systems
  • Experience using student information systems, customer relationship management (CRM) systems and communication technologies to recruit and enroll students
  • Bilingual
  • Higher Education experience
  • Knowledge of college admissions or marketing and sales
