About the Opportunity:
Under the Associate Director of Career Development on the Seattle Campus and in conjunction with the experiential learning and career support staff within the Colleges, the Career Development Advisor will create and implement career programming, professional development, and experiential learning opportunities for all Seattle learners.

Responsibilities:
This individual is responsible for assisting students in securing appropriate experiential learning opportunities (co-ops, internships, projects, hackathons, etc.) with a focus on technical and tech-adjacent opportunities. This role will advise and coach students individually and in groups throughout the job search and application process, with a focus on topics related to career development and employment search, including resume and cover letter development and review, interview techniques, and effective job search strategies. This will involve both industry and region-specific content, as well as incorporating career preparation curricula from partner colleges.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but growing regional team that will be helping to expand the career development and experiential learning function for Northeastern University within the greater Seattle area.

Qualifications:
Preferred candidates for the Career Development Advisor position will have:

  • Worked in a student/career-focused environment and have a professional background in experiential learning, preferably in the technology education space, AND/OR, worked as a technical recruiter, technical hiring manager, or in a similar function.

  • An understanding of industry hiring and employment trends relevant to Seattle degree programs (e.g. computer science, analytics, project management, information systems) and the ability to conduct independent research in these areas.

  • The ability to lead projects and navigate across university divisions; a detail-oriented multi-tasker.

  • Strong communication skills and an interest in working in a highly collaborative roles with students, staff, faculty, alumni, and external partners.

  • Strong presentation and workshop facilitation skills.

  • Flexibility and an interest in wearing multiple hats; the Seattle campus is growing so this role will require comfort with evolving priorities.

  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds; familiarity with international student work authorization processes (CPT/OPT) in the U.S. is a plus.

  • Excellent skills in relationship building, event planning, marketing, public relations and database management.

  • Experience working with professional master's students is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3-5 years or equivalent experience supporting career development at a higher education institution or job-focused training program (e.g. bootcamp/workforce development).
