Salary & Benefits:              Salary is $43,771.42. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Student Life is the hub for students at Santa Fe College. Student Life is comprised of Student Activities, Civic Engagement & Service, Student Government, Leadership Programs, International Student Support & Advising, Student Health Care Center, Student Life Business Office, and Student Life Marketing. Services provided include ID card services, student organization support, Recreation Room, computer lab, Student Life Art Gallery, and the Evening Services Office.

 

The Student Activities Specialist will take the lead in planning, publicizing, and implementing educational and  inclusive programming for  a diverse  student body comprised of approximately 14,000 students including six educational centers in Alachua and Bradford counties. This position is also responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Student Life in supporting the Student Government Programming leaders. The Student  Activities Specialist will help students develop and achieve realistic goals for the academic year, assist them in achieving balance between academic and co-curricular activities, as well as promote their academic, personal, and professional development.

 

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Create, develop, implement, and assess a well-balanced calendar of social, educational, cultural, and wellness activities and events based on student interests and needs, including the six educational centers and
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across the college to coordinate campus wide events and planning committees for Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Disability Awareness, LGBTQ+ Awareness, Religious Diversity, Safe Spring Break and SF Resource Fairs.
  • Assess student learning outcomes for events and prepare overall assessment reports.
  • Conduct periodic needs assessment to inform programming initiatives.
  • Manage the Student Activities and Alcohol Awareness programming budgets.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate student program team employees.
  • Advise Student Government Programs Branch in developing leadership and organizational effectiveness in accomplishing the SGP’s goals.
  • Assist with coordination of logistics and volunteers for three commencement ceremonies.
  • Represent Student Life at a variety of college-wide events including SF Live, College Night, and Open House.
  • Promote Student Life on campus, including presentations to student groups, new student orientations, and classrooms.
  • Serve on college-wide committees on behalf of Student Life.
  • Meet weekly with the Associate Director of Student Life.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and other committees and meetings assigned related to Student Activities.
  • Participate as a team member in Student Life and assist in its administration.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Reports to:  Associate Director, Student Life

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:  A Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of closely related experience.

 

Additional Requirements: Applicant must have a valid Florida driver’s license and meet the college’s approval to drive guidelines (Driving Requirements). A criminal background check will be conducted.

 

Preferred Qualifications A Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or Education, and specific experience working with student activities and events, and/or working with student organizations. Previous advising experience.  Prior experience working in student activities with a commitment to student development, cultivating social responsibility and cultural awareness. Experience managing  data, including tracking program participation, evaluations, and assessments.
