The Alumni House events support assistant supports events promoted to alumni, students, staff, faculty, and the Cortland community; helps facilitate and coordinate events from start to finish; works on events such as reunions, weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, seminars, workshops, and dinners; works with other house staff and a team of event interest under the direction and guidance of the general manager.
Hours: Part-time/temporary; shift depends on event scheduled days/nights up to 15 hours/week Major Responsibilities
- Organize facilities and manage all events details (e.g., event set-up, timeline, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with NYS Liquor Authority license.
- Specify staff requirements and coordinate their activities during the events.
- Anticipate and proactively address issues, and troubleshoot problems on the day of the event.
- Assist with on-site events (e.g., assist guests, clear tables, serve guests, etc.).
- Maintain positive relationships with guests.
- Enhance and protect the facility and its amenities.
- Reports to the general manager
- Works closely with interns and other staff
- High school diploma or GED
- Hospitality or related experience
- Customer service experience
- Experience with office technology including email communication
- Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree (degree in hospitality related field, highly preferred)
- Experience planning and working events
