The Candidate: will provide leadership in rethinking the Art History General Education course offerings to reflect dynamic changes in the discipline, notably the rise of anti-racist and decolonial thinking; be engaged with the entire curricular needs of the department, with a focus on the undergraduate program; have a solid understanding of what it means to be a part of an inclusive educational environment, teaching in an urban location and the needs of Temple and Tyler students. We are particularly interested in scholars whose work addresses gaps in our curricular offerings: from geographical areas (Asian Art, Central and Eastern Europe Art) of any historical period; emerging subfields (Indigenous Studies), or new methodological approaches to the discipline (Disability Studies). Candidates will have a commitment to contribute to increasing the diversity of the Tyler community and the department’s curriculum.

Responsibilities: Teach 3-3 load, with 2 of these classes as large GenEd lecture classes. Supervision of TAs for multiple discussion sections to train graduate students in pedagogical methods. Expansion of departmental curriculum into underserved areas of the department, including one graduate course per year. Participate in graduate supervision of MA Qualifying Papers and PhD doctoral exams and dissertations. Participate in undergraduate research projects (e.g. the Diamond Research Scholars program, the CARAS Program).
