Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business invites applications for a non-tenure line faculty position in Business Analytics. We seek to make an appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level as a Professor of the Practice and the appointment is for a term of three academic years effective summer/fall 2022.  The position is potentially renewable.


Responsibilities include teaching core and elective courses in business analytics primarily in the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program and may include teaching in other programs at the graduate or undergraduate level in the McDonough School of Business. Candidates will be expected to teach courses that include (but not limited to) programming and data management, predictive analytics, applied business analytics courses and the MSBA Capstone project course which will include interacting with industry and government partners and advising students. Additionally, the candidate will assist in course planning, program operations, participate in the data science and analytics community and advise students both academically and professionally in the MSBA program.

For MSBA, most instruction will be online but may include in-person teaching in the future. The appointment to the faculty carries with it the obligation to provide instruction and to contribute to the intellectual life of the McDonough School of Business. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the MSBA program’s academic integrity, student academic engagement, collaborating with faculty colleagues to develop asynchronous course material and other items requested by the MSBA Director and Assistant Director.


Candidates should hold a MS in a technical discipline including computer science, engineering, data science, data engineering and management, business analytics, operations research, statistics, or any quantitative social sciences or a related field. A PhD degree is desirable. Successful candidates will contribute to scholarly teaching, student advising and faculty support in the MSBA program and overall growth of the McDonough School of Business in the area of business analytics. 

 Preferred qualifications:

    Experience teaching analytics and/or data science in R and/or Python Experience teaching or working with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Experience or interest in developing new and innovative curriculum content for courses in analytics and data science Applied experience or experience working with industry partners Experience with learning and applying project management and team-based tools to improve functioning of student teams
