The History Department at Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position in the history of Asia, beginning 1 July 2022. Candidates should have expertise in either the Islamicate world or East Asia, and they should be prepared to teach survey courses in one of those fields and upper-level seminars in their area of specialization.
The History Department is comprised of a dozen historians with diverse thematic and geographic specializations, and it values both excellence in undergraduate education and high quality research. Candidates should have a record of excellent teaching and a Ph.D. in hand or be near completion by the beginning of the appointment (July 2022).

Candidates who advance to the interview stage should additionally submit three letters of recommendation, a statement of teaching philosophy that addresses pedagogical inclusion of a diverse student population, and an unofficial graduate school transcript.
