AUIS is an independent, nonprofit, coeducational, English-speaking university founded in 2007 for the public benefit and located in Sulaimani, the cultural capital of the Kurdistan region in Iraq and a UNESCO-designated City of Literature.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Professor of Information Technology is a senior member of the AUIS instructional and research community, its faculty. The primary responsibility of a faculty member is teaching and supporting student learning inside and outside the classroom. Thus, faculty members are expected to keep current in their fields, to create syllabi for their courses that represent the current state of knowledge, to select textbooks and course materials that are appropriate to the level of the course, to use instructional methods and technologies that will engage students, to challenge students intellectually, to assess and support student progress during the course both in class and through individual appointments as may be required, and to evaluate student performance fairly and accurately at the conclusion of a course.
The ideal candidate exhibits the following characteristics:
- Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited university in Information Technology or related field such as computer science or information system; Doctorate preferred.
- At least five years of combined experience in teaching at the postsecondary level and working in the relevant industry.
- A distinguished track record of teaching, advising and research in the broad areas of the specialty that University requires.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Evidence of outstanding teaching skills, including the ability to teach diverse populations and students for whom English is not a native language.

- Participating in service activities and faculty governance
- Maintaining professional scholarship

DEPARTMENT
The Department of Information Technology offers two degrees: the B.S. degree in Information Technology, and the B.S Degree in Software Engineering. These majors are among the most popular at the University, reflecting the increasing role of information technology in modern society. Additional degrees are planned.
