Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Senior Associate Director, the Admission Advisor/Program Liaison will recruit students for University enrollment and represent Sacramento State at various educational and community programs, events and activities. The incumbent will act as a University liaison to the 1300 Campaign and serve as Sacramento State's point of contact for the College for All initiative, the 1300 Campaign and Improve Your Tomorrow. While specific programs and initiatives may change over time, the programs will emphasize recruitment, retention and success of historically underserved and marginalized groups. The incumbent is responsible for serving as an advocate for students in these programs and providing resources to prospective students, program representatives, high school and community college counselors and Sacramento State departments and programs to help students see the opportunities available through higher education, build a successful path or be admitted, and to assist students with a smooth transition to Sacramento State.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,796 - $5,369 per month
Hiring Range: Anticipated hiring range is near the minimum of the classification salary range, commensurate with candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organization and program management; research and interviewing techniques; principles of individual and group behavior; the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge of the organization, procedures and activities of the specific campus to which the position is assigned; and the basic principles, practices and major trends in the Student Services field to which assigned.
Ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge of the specific objectives of the campus Student Services program and its relationship to the total campus operation; interpret and apply program rules and regulations; gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; present clear and concise information orally and in written reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations and other private and public agencies.
Experience:
Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job related education may be substituted for the required experience.
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job related field.
Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
Required Qualifications
1. Ability to understand, embrace, and communicate Sacramento State marketing messages.
2. Knowledge of recruiting and marketing (in a university or other settings).
3. General Knowledge of admissions, financial aid and other kinds of services offered by universities (e.g. Affinity and Equity Programs, Housing, Campus Life, Career Services, etc.).
4. Ability to work and thrive in a diverse work environment and recognize multicultural, multisexed, and multiaged value systems.
5. Ability to use standard office equipment and standard software programs (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) Explorer, FireFox, Safari etc.), various online academic resources {i.e., CalStateApply, CollegeSource, Assist, etc.}.
6. Ability to make decisions and discuss potential implications for students and related service offices.
7. Ability to describe effective (and ineffective) strategies for communicating with constituents, colleagues, partners and the campus community.
8. Flexible schedule and ability to travel if needed.

9. Experience recruiting students from various backgrounds towards higher education
10. Knowledge of Freshman and Transfer Admission Requirements in the California State University System
11. Experience working with diverse students: first generation and low-income student populations, or in an affinity or equity program.
12. Bilingual (e.g. English/Spanish/Hmong, etc.)
