Job Summary

The Coordinator for Student Engagement develops and coordinates department-sponsored programs in the areas of Leadership Development, Volunteerism, and Social Integration. Responsibilities include marketing and promoting programs and actively involves students in the program development process. Creates opportunities for large service projects (food drives, campus clean-ups) especially during Welcome Week, Homecoming, Alumni and Parents/Family Weekends. This position will also advise the Student Activities Committee and the Mr. and Miss Alcorn Royal Court.

  • Knowledge of Student Development Theory and best practices in student engagement and development
  • Program development and coordination skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills in both verbal and written forms
Essential Job Functions
  • Develops, coordinates and implements programming for students that are social and developmental in nature to foster a vibrant campus experience. Areas of programming include Leadership Development, Volunteerism, and social programming.
  • Assists with budget management, policy development, and other policies related to student engagement.
  • Assess programs to ensure a broad range of student support and a diverse array of opportunities for engagement.
  • Establish relationships with faculty and other campus partners to develop collaborative programming and opportunities for faculty support of co-curricular experiences.
  • Works closely with the Assistant Director to ensure programming integrity and prevent overlap with student organization events, trainings, and activities.
  • Takes a lead role in coordinating all campus-wide programs, including Welcome Week, Homecoming, and Brave Fest events.
  • Supervises the Miss and Mr. Alcorn Royal Courts; coordinates their activities including travel, coronation, Homecoming, and special appearances.
  • Coordinates special projects as assigned by the Director of Student Engagement and/or University administrators.
Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required and at least one year of experience in collegiate level student development and engagement.
