Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chairs of the Department of Social Sciences and Social Work, the Administrative Assistant supports the overall mission and goals of the departments, implementation of administrative services provided to students, faculty, staff, social work advisory board, administration and the general public.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Familiar with basic Microsoft office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point), Banner, knowledge of database management, excellent communication skills (i.e., both oral and written), word processing/data entry
Essential Job Functions
Answer phones and greet visitors
Schedule appointments and maintain calendars
Schedule and coordinate staff and other meetings
Collate and distribute mail
Prepare communications, such as memos, emails, invoices, reports and
other correspondence
Write and edit documents from letters to reports and instructional
documents
Create and maintain filing systems, both electronic and physical
Manage accounts and perform bookkeeping
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D.
1-3 years experience as an office professional in an academic setting is
preferred.
