Job Summary

To maintain the electrical systems and equipment in good working order to minimize unscheduled interruptions in service.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of electrical principles and their application to the maintenance, repair and installation of electric distribution systems, devices and electrical generation systems.
  • Knowledge of the application and use of testing equipment utilized in checking, testing, and analyzing electrical systems.
  • Good written and oral communications, and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of codes pertaining to maintenance and installation of electrical systems.
Essential Job Functions
  • This is a multifunction position. While the primary focus is on preventative electrical maintenance, this position is frequently required to supervise tradesmen and to direct, monitor and approve the actions, performance and/or products of contractors and vendors.
  • Supervise the installation of new and additional electrical work, remodeling, etc.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of motor relays, magnetic starters, generators, transformers, etc.
  • Responsible for the repair, maintenance, altering, or installation of any wiring apparatus.
  • Responsible for the installation of electrical circuits for new equipment.
  • Responsible for emergency response to critical situations.
  • Supervises the activities of the Electrical Shop and two electrical trade personnel.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma and one year college or trade school in related electrical field required.
  • Certification as an Electrician desired. Licensed Electrician preferred.
  • Experience in electrical construction or renovation with at least five (5) years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of controls and ability to read and understand blue prints.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Electrical Codes.
  • Valid Mississippi driver’s license.
Licensing and Certifications

Must have Journeyman License or Maintenance Electrician License.
