Open-Rank Tenure Line Genomics Co-hire faculty

The Ross and Carol College of Nursing (https://www.nursing.psu.edu/) is pleased to announce an open-rank tenure line faculty position focused on exploring the role of genomics in nursing, specifically understanding and applying emerging science and technology as it relates to precise, person-center care. This is an open rank position to be filled at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level dependent on the qualifications of the successful applicant with a target start date of Fall 2022.

The successful applicant will be a leader in a program of research with demonstrated impact on policy and/or practice, a strong publication record, and a track record of securing external funding. This position is co-funded with Penn State's Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences (https://www.huck.psu.edu/). Faculty appointed to this position will be core faculty with the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences which is recognized nationally and internationally for promoting excellence in research and graduate training in the life sciences and its leadership in integrating life sciences across academic fields. The goal of the co-funded appointment is to expand our faculty's expertise and to provide national and international academic leadership in genomics. Faculty hired through this initiative will strengthen an interdisciplinary community of scholars and educators, will be leaders in genomics research and education throughout the University, and will help integrate genomics into the teaching and research programs of all our academic units while also contributing to the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing's mission. Interest in and commitment to participating in an interdisciplinary community of scholars while contributing to the University's initiative on Health Ethics, Ecology, and Policy.

Responsibilities include directing a research program focused on genomics. Research foci should broadly focus on areas such as, but not limited to the ethical, legal, social, or policy implications of genetics and genomics related to patient care and research or computational genomics with a focus on precision medicine. Fostering collaborations with colleagues in other disciplines, as well as faculty in the Tressa Nese and Helen Diskevich Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence, the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Telehealth (SAFE-T) Center, both housed within the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing, and across 12 Penn State Campus locations including Hershey Medical Center. In addition to accelerating strong collaborative interdisciplinary research, the new faculty member will teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses and direct dissertations. In addition to accelerating strong collaborative interdisciplinary research, the new faculty member will engage in outreach activities that disseminate research on genomics to a range of stakeholders, including policymakers, nurses, and other practitioners at national, regional, and local conferences and meetings. We seek a colleague who will pursue a program of externally funded research that is published in highly regarded, peer-reviewed journals within the fields of nursing, genomics, and health services research.

Nursing faculty candidates must hold a valid United States nursing license.
