Position Summary:
Model Laboratory School (Kindergarten - 12th Grade) and the Department of Language and Cultural Studies, Anthropology, and Sociology at Eastern Kentucky University is seeking a joint faculty Spanish position to begin in the 2022-23 school year. The instructor will provide K-6 Spanish at Model for a portion of the day and have the opportunity to lead innovative pedagogy by establishing a Seal of Biliteracy at Model Lab, which would serve as a teacher training site for the state of Kentucky. The instructor will plan, organize, and implement world-class educational programs in a K-12 laboratory school environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, and helps the school and University meet established goals.

Additionally, the instructor will teach Introductory Spanish at the University (Spanish I and II), promote the Spanish program on campus and through community outreach, as well as support the initiatives of the Bobby Verdugo and Yoli Rios Bilingual Peer Mentor and Tutoring Center housed in the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
Native or near-native speaker, and a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish required. Degree(s) must be from a regionally (SACS, Middle States, North Central, etc.) accredited institution and/or a recognized international university. Appropriate proficiency in oral and written English required. Must possess teacher certification through the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board for teaching Spanish at the K-12 level.
