Description

The School of Art in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks a full-time 9-month (academic year) Lecturer in the Art History program beginning August, 2022. This position will serve online and in-person undergraduate and graduate students.

The School of Art in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University prepares students for the creative and critical challenges of the global 21st century. The School of Art seeks a candidate with a rich and varied skill set in the field of Museology and Global Contemporary Art. The successful candidate will have knowledge of art and architectural history and museum and curatorial studies. The successful candidate has experience teaching upper and lower division undergraduate seminars and lecture courses online and in-person. The successful candidate will have experience working with a diverse student population and is able to communicate to students their progress, while recognizing their diversified backgrounds. The successful candidate has experience mentoring and advising students. This position includes service responsibilities, which may include, but are not limited to curricular and academic affairs, communications, student recruitment and retention activities, as well as faculty/teaching assistant/student worker onboarding and mentoring. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills and be able to effectively communicate and prioritize deadlines. Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Art History
  • Demonstrated evidence of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching with at least three years of experience teaching in higher education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable of online teaching platforms, including Canvas
  • Experience developing online courses and innovative online pedagogy
  • The ability to teach all levels of upper-division and lower-division undergraduate courses and graduate courses
  • The ability to teach in in-person and online modalities
  • Additional teaching experience such as student advising/mentorship
  • Demonstrated evidence of administrative/service activities
