The Associate Dean, College of Health and Human Services assists the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services with the administration, operation, promotion and evaluation of programs, personnel and budgetary matters of the College. Works closely with Department Chairs and Program Directors to ensure effective and efficient operations.


Approves course schedules, teaching assignments, scholarship re-assigned time, and workload reports for all programs and faculty in the College.

Responds in a timely and professional manner to the suggestions, inquiries and complaints of faculty and staff as assigned or approved by the Dean.

Oversees issues related to undergraduate and graduate academic programs, which may include student progress, student complaints, grade appeals, dismissals, academic misconduct.

Supervises professional and/or support staff.

Manages onboarding and training opportunities, especially for full-time CHHS faculty.

Supports Department Chairs and Program Directors with new and revised courses and programs, external funding opportunities, and internal evaluation and external accreditation activities for state, national, and professional accreditation as aligned with the CHHS strategic plan.

Manages recruitment, registration, retention, degree completion and related communication initiatives.

Compiles and analyzes data related to the operation of the College and prepares reports, proposals, presentations, information and materials requested by the Dean of the College.

Represents the Dean of the College as assigned by the Dean.

Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those listed above which do not alter the basic level of the position.



  • Earned doctorate.
  • Seven years of experience in higher education
  • Evidence of successful university level teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness with communication, time management, data management, and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully, in a collegial manner, with students, faculty, staff, administration and the public.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.


  • Earned doctorate in a discipline housed in the College of Health and Human Services.
  • Achieved tenure as a faculty member.
  • Experienced academic leader (chair/assistant chair, program coordinator or director)
  • Knowledge of and experience with current state, national and professional accreditation and certification policies, procedures and processes.
  • Experience with grant seeking and proposal writing.

These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
