Job Summary:

Marist College welcomes applications for the position of Application/Web Developer as a team member in Administrative Computing in the Information Technology Division. Reporting to the ERP Manager, this position is responsible for the development, enhancement, delivery and maintenance of Liferay Enterprise Portal software systems essential to the administration and operations of the College. The Application Developer will design, develop, document, analyze, create, and test systems and programs. They will collaborate with faculty, staff and administration in innovation, streamlining business processes and realizing new efficiencies.

This position is hybrid/remote eligible with periodic on-campus work at the supervisor’s discretion.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and 2 years of experience or six (6) years of experience or equivalent combination of other education, training and/or experience.
  • Java, PHP or equivalent object-oriented language
  • Experience in web development, including HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and Javascript libraries such as jQuery.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments, specifically LAMP stacks.
  • Implement, maintain, and upgrade the College’s Portal as well as other ERP(Banner) applications and software solutions
  • Write functional documentation
  • Troubleshoot bugs and implement fixes for them
  • Offer suggestions for improvements/enhancements to currently developed solutions
  • Knowledge of software development principles.
  • Must be a team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills and have experience working with customers across teams.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and take pride in your work.
Essential Functions:
  • Design, development, documentation, analysis, creation and testing of computer systems or programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user specifications
  • Integrate and troubleshoot complex software systems that run in mixed system environments
  • Meet with Marist administration, staff and faculty to discuss current business processes
  • Work with customers to streamline business processes and realize efficiencies
  • Develop code within a development instance using various programming languages and technical tools to automate business processes:
  • SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Javascript,HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, PHP, Triggers, Cron Scripting, etc
  • Banner Workflows
  • Liferay (Enterprise Portal) Workflows
  • Integration software
  • Develop scenarios to provide quality assurance testing for newly implemented processes
  • Provide 24/7 availability on-call on a rotational basis to effectively and efficiently resolve Marist students, staff and faculty and external clients’ technical and functional issues
  • Serve on committees as assigned by upper management (Security, Change Management, DevOps, etc.)
  • Support a diverse environment of technical software that includes Banner, Oracle, Argos Reporting Tool, Liferay, myPHPFAQs, LimeSurvey, etc
  • Develop Banner ad hoc reports according to user specifications
  • Apply and test vendor supplied technical upgrades and enhancements
  • Train Marist staff and faculty to become proficient in using the technology provided by Administrative Computing staff
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Liferay and Ellucian Banner Preferred

Please note: This position is fully-remote eligible or may be located in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Relocation: It is College policy to reimburse eligible newly hired full-time administrative staff members for reasonable expenses incurred in relocating to the Hudson Valley area. To be eligible for reimbursement, new employees must move a minimum of 50 miles from their present home; must move within the first year of hire. Generally, the College will reimburse eligible moving and relocating expenses up to $7,000.

Compensation & Benefits:

The Application Developer position includes a competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package*. Benefits for this position include but are not limited to the following:

Tuition Benefits:

  • College pays 100% tuition only
  • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution
*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the College.
