SUMMARY:

Serve as University Administration's (UA) Financial Aid Administrator at our Off Campus Instructional Site in Orlando, providing direction and leadership for UA, while serving as the main campus contact for Financial Aid and Academic Counseling. This position will serve a variety of functions including acting as an interim Campus Director of Financial Aid, and interim campus Student Success Counselor (Financial Aid Advisor/Academic Counsel combined role), Veterans Administration School Certifying Official, Central Financial Aid Processing and Military assistant, and assist with other UA and campus tasks. In addition to the campus role, this position will also act as a remote support to our other campuses. This position will perform Financial Aid Service duties with a special emphasis on compliance with federal regulations, South University policy and service to the students. Ensure campus aid is processed accurately and paid timely providing the best customer service experience for the students and campuses.


KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Responsible for assisting and the campus financial aid department and academic counseling with overall compliance with South University financial aid policies and procedures, understanding of Title IV and Non-Title IV fund sources to properly assist students with developing a funding plan for their education, team productivity, and providing excellent customer service to all prospective and current students.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student financial information as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as well as all South University confidential and proprietary information policy.
  • Assist Campus Student Financial Services team by Monitoring and tracking financial aid office and financial aid staff's progress with new student packaging, continuing student repackages, document collection, unpaid aid, financial packaging to get aid disbursed in a timely manner by ensuring that all new, re-entry and continuing student packaging is ready for approval.
  • Work with Military Benefits Department providing student support and performing the tasks of campus VA Certifying official. Provide guidance and support to the centralized military team, campus VASCOs and students as necessary. Ensure necessary students are certified in the VA Once system within 30 days of the start of the quarter, also being diligent of all changes to enrollment are updated in the VA Once system within 30 days of the change of enrollment.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of new campus Financial Aid Directors and new Financial Aid Advisors to ensure South University's policies and procedures, as well as ensure compliance with all necessary Title IV regulations.
  • Participate in weekly financial aid calls, as well as all training calls, with the Vice Chancellor for Compliance and/or Regional Director of Financial Aid. Provide for self and staff professional and personal development.
  • Drive student persistence and success through orientation, exposure to the learning platform, effective class scheduling, and monitoring degree progress to graduation.
  • Register and Advise all new, continuing and re-entry students. Participate and successfully complete all academic counselor training and development activities.
  • Maintain direct contact with assigned students via phone, text and e-mail; respond to student inbound communication within established timeframes.
  • Assist students reentering the university after being withdrawn or dismissed from the University with the reinstatement process, monitor student progress to graduation, provide proactive advising, and develop interventions as needed.
  • Effectively access and perform assigned duties using the Student Information System, Learning Management System and relevant databases.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience required.
  • Three to Five years of experience in federal financial aid, state financial aid, or auditing at the post-secondary level required.
  • Knowledge of postsecondary education student information system (CampusVue or Campus Nexus experience preferred)
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Fiscal and personnel management expertise.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with both peer and subordinate personnel.
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Work effectively a team member to ensure that departmental goals are met.
  • Ability to work well within the principles and practices of collection development.
  • Ability to teach information literacy skills
  • Comfort level with expanding and contracting sphere of influence as required at times by the role.
