The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is inviting applicants for a full-time Neonatologist position as Division Chief of Neonatology. The faculty position is for an Associate Professor/Full Professor rank at a tenure/non-tenure accruing level based on experience and qualifications, and will report to the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at UF COM-Jacksonville.

The Chief will be expected to lead the division to expand and enhance current clinical programs that currently serve the children and families of Northeast Florida. We are seeking an individual with excellent clinical skills, the emotional intelligence to lead a diverse faculty and to build clinical and academic collaborations across divisions, accomplishments in quality improvement and/or clinical outcomes research, and the capacity to motivate, mentor, and develop junior faculty on their academic journey. The Chief will share night and weekend call responsibilities equitably with other division faculty.

Preference will be given to individuals who have established a track record of mentoring junior faculty in their clinical development and academic endeavors and/or have experience with collaborative multicenter research or large data sets.

Following is a general description of duties and responsibilities:

• Oversee the planning and direction of clinical operations and neonatology services at multiple units and locations.
• Collaborate with partnering hospital leaderships to improve neonatal services.
• Establish external relationships for planning future growth and development.
• Provide strong mentoring and leadership, demonstrating a commitment to the overall mission of the division in the areas of clinical, teaching, and research, with a goal of achieving a highly engaged, motivated and collaborative team.
• Provide medical care for neonates in the Newborn Intensive Care Units at the level III UF Health Jacksonville and level IV Wolfson Children's Hospital.
• Participate in academic education and teaching including formal and informal activities with medical students, postgraduate residents, and allied health care professionals such as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants.
• Lead and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including patient satisfaction, patient safety, and risk management to improve and sustain optimal patient outcomes and to ensure maximum clinical and cost efficiencies.
• Enhance and maintain a robust clinical outcomes research program in the division of Neonatology and provide guidance to and supervision of the research faculty. Pursue external funding support to build new clinical services and research programs.
• Conduct administrative and academic activities of the division including the development of a division schedule for clinical services, faculty evaluation and development, and other personnel management duties.
• Participate in fiscal management of division, including budgeting and revenue and expense monitoring.
• Participate on committees to represent the Department of Pediatrics and the Division of Neonatology as requested by the Chair.
• Attend Department faculty meetings and Divisional conferences as required.
• Share night and weekend call responsibilities equitably with other division faculty.

• Demonstrated leadership of a successful and relevant research program.
• Qualifications to fulfill UFCOM – Jacksonville criteria for senior level faculty appointment at Associate Professor or Professor level.
• Research experience and vision to build a strong academic program in Neonatology.
• Experience in program direction/administrative responsibilities.
• Established expertise working with diverse communities.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must have a doctoral degree (M.D. or D.O.), current Board certification by the American Board of Pediatrics with a Board certification in Neonatology, and be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid Florida Medical License.
