INSTITUTE DEAN – STEM

Serve as the primary academic and administrative officer for an academic Institute. Design and implement programs that support the educational excellence and designs and implements goals of the Institute. Provide leadership in the development of bridges and partnerships between academic departments and continuing education programming. Promote innovations in learning and teaching and guides and supports faculty and staff development. Ensure assessment of student learning leading to continual improvement, fosters College growth, and promote financial security. Operate with a significant degree of autonomy and maintains an academic atmosphere conducive to best-in-class staffing and learning. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, have oversight of the financial, administrative and operational affairs of the Institute and will serve as advisor to the Vice President on matters concerning policy, procedure, financial, and operational issues. Represent the Vice President to all constituents and serve as a member of the Deans’ Council and the President’s Cabinet.

Master’s degree required in Higher Education Administration, closely related field or in a discipline offered at the College/Institute, from an accredited institution. Earned doctoral degree preferred. Five to Seven years of full-time experience in higher education required, to include prior higher education teaching, administrative, and supervisory experience. Experience in a collective bargaining environment preferred. Demonstrated commitment to integrative management and strategic thinking. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Proven outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. High level of diplomacy and confidentiality. Commitment to work collaboratively and problem-solve through teamwork. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with discretion, tact and timeliness. Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college. Commitment to work collaboratively and problem-solve through teamwork. Familiarity with NJ community college state regulations and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college. Computer literacy skills at an intermediate level with the demonstrated ability to utilize and apply the Microsoft Office Suite as well as specialized software programs and computer applications essential to the position, including but not limited to the College’s ERP. Must be able to travel locally.

Annual Salary $113,000 with benefits
