Part-Time Faculty - Real Estate Practice (71103)
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Description:
Pratt Institute's School of Architecture is creating a pool of applicants for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters to join our part-time faculty community in the Real Estate Practice program. The ideal candidate will possess both professional and academic experience in the area real estate project funding and management, sustainable community development and innovative real estate practices. The REP programs are under the auspices of the School of Architecture within Pratt Institute.
This first term introductory course REP 601 The Development Process provides an overview of the real estate development process, including site selection, due diligence, design, finance, construction, leasing, operation, and sale. It will focus on structuring and managing an integrated process beginning with a concept, addressing the creation of a development program, acquisition of site control, market and feasibility analysis, assembling a consultant team, obtaining governmental approvals and financing, design and construction, and operation and
management.
Qualifications:
Applicants are required to have a Master's degree or equivalent in related fields in the built environment and college/university teaching experience. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, a demonstrated level of intercultural competence, and ability to work well with diverse populations.
Candidate’s professional or scholarly focus may include a broad set of interests within the field. We encourage applicants with experience and knowledge in the following areas of expertise:
Real estate development, particularly in creating diverse communities
Project management on urban development projects that provide for sustainability and address issues of societal inequality in both the physical realm and in the larger economy
An understanding of the interdisciplinary approaches to real estate development
Is familiar with the roles and responsibilities of the public and private
sectors in the development of complex urban projects.
Experience using academic course delivery software such as Canvas, Moodle
SALARY is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
