Job Description:

APPOINTMENT: 5.1.2022

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include managing the WIU Foundation and Development Office communications and for developing and executing the broad range of printed, electronic and other communications required to support the activities of the WIU Foundation and Development efforts and preserve the relationship with donors. Planning events for the advancement and foundation office.

In the area of stewardship and donor relations, major responsibilities include providing leadership for university-wide development, coordination, implementation, and execution of the gift acknowledgment processes; reporting to donors/benefactors, special donor recognition initiatives; seasonal donor correspondence; and other Foundation donor relations activities.

Assist the Vice President with preparing reports and correspondence for the President, VP's, BOT, WIU Foundation Board of Directors, Prospect Protocol Committee and other groups as needed.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree - With prior donor relations and support experience in higher education preferred. Knowledge of the role of foundation fundraising in higher education is beneficial. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be "in hand" at the time of application.

The Director of Donor Relations and Special Events position is located within the Foundation and Development Office, which is within the Division of Advancement and Public Services.

WIU-Macomb, IL (Student Population: 6,432): A traditional, residential four-year campus offering a comprehensive slate of undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education, WIU-Macomb is located in the heart of west central Illinois in Macomb (population 20,000). Amtrak provides twice-daily service from Macomb to Chicago (and point in-between). Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,192): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL.
