The Division of Student Life plays an integral
role in the College's vision and values, and every member of the
Division of Student Life supports the delivery of a transformative
student experience. The Assistant Director of Career Development is
an integral part of the Career Services Team.
Job duties include but are not limited to the
following:
- Counsels students in the areas of career planning, career development, graduate school exploration, and job search strategies incorporating self-assessment and computer guidance programs. Advises all students with primary responsibility in advising first- and second- year students in the career process.
- Oversees the career assessment process including interpretations to students and alumni and annual evaluation of assessment instruments. Manages the relationship with assessment vendors.
- Develops and conducts career-related programs to enhance student awareness of personal interests, values, skills, and qualifications and to promote a better understanding about the world of work.
- Hires, trains, and supervises the student employees in the office.
- Serves as career services liaison with faculty, staff and employers.
- Assists with development of career resources and communications/marketing for the office including the Career Services webpage and social media.
- Manages and procures office resources and assists in the overall management of the office.
- Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position.
- Master's degree required (preferably in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel or Counseling)
- Experience in career and/or guidance counseling strongly preferred.
- Experience facilitating groups, and with advisory or mentoring responsibilities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills as well as demonstrated ability to relate to students, faculty and staff required.
- Experience with Myers Briggs and Strong Interest Inventory preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
