This Full-Time Assistant Professor position is an exciting opportunity in Goodwin University’s growing bachelor’s in public health and associate’s and bachelor’s in health sciences Programs. In addition to teaching, this position is responsible for implementing, coordinating, and facilitating student community/health-based internships.

We are seeking an experienced professional with at least 5 years of public health experience, plus at least 3 years of prior teaching experience. Candidates with research, extensive teaching experience and current practice in public health and health science are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Possess necessary skills to organize and develop relevant curriculum and teach/evaluate student performance
  • Schedule must allow for teaching mornings, evenings, and/or weekend classes (on-ground, hybrid, and online)
  • Responsible for teaching 15 credits/semester
  • Along with the Program Director, responsible for coordinating and facilitating all community-based public health/health science internships
  • Evaluates and facilitates clinical education effectiveness through a schedule of regular contact with clinical education sites for internships
  • Supports the Program Director to assure effective program operation
  • Regularly engage in professional development activities, such as internal and external workshops, and trade related conferences, staying abreast of technological advances
  • Represent the university in a professional, positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, staff, faculty, administrators, and community contacts
  • Possess the ability to demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to a diverse student population
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty/department meetings
  • Keep attendance records on all students to comply with federal financial aid guidelines
  • Assist with the development and implementation of retention and recruiting strategies
  • Masters degree in Public Health; Doctoral degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience in public health
  • 2 years of experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Experience using online learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard)
  • Ability to teach hybrid, online, AND on-ground classes on the East Hartford, CT campus
