DEPARTMENT OF SPEECH, LANGUAGE, AND HEARING SCIENCES

Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position

POSITION AVAILABLE: One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2022, and/or Spring Semester 2023.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) offers a Bachelor of Science degree and an accredited Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology. There are approximately 200 majors and six regular faculty.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Teaching one or more basic and advanced course(s) for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses at the Hayward, Concord, and Online campuses. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.

RANK AND SALARY: Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience, and the salary ranges can be found at: CSU Salary Schedule . Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester begins August 17, 2022 and Spring Semester begins January 17, 2023.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or Master’s degree in communication disorders, and academic and practical expertise. University teaching experience is preferred. CA State License & Board Certification by ASHA in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology is preferred. In addition, candidates seeking employment in our credential program must have: a) current knowledge of the content they teach/supervise; b) knowledge of the current context of public schooling including California’s adopted P-12 content standards, framework, and accountability system; c) knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation; and d) demonstration of effective professional practices in teaching and learning, scholarship, and service.
