Brief Description of Duties

The University of the District of Columbia is a public land grant institution of higher learning dedicated to providing quality, career focused undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance, or change careers. Incumbents must manage lab inventory, lab equipment, maintain the overall condition of the labs, manage testing area by semester course schedule for students; Incumbents will be required to maintain quiet testing area, and manage student workers and scheduling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain schedule for testing and tutoring.
  • Maintain students testing records for faculty in proper fling system.
  • Assist in informing faculty and staff of operations.
  • Monitor the regular inspection of lab equipment.
  • Maintain data sheets in an organized, accessible fashion.
  • Maintain inventory system of all science supplies and special equipment
  • Coordinate purchasing of all supplies and special equipment with division director.
  • Coordinate maintenance of laboratory equipment (service or replace).
  • Make appropriate recommendations for cost effective utilization of allocated resources.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with supervision of student workers.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field, or with strong math skills.
  • Prior laboratory work experience or must demonstrate evidence of having sound laboratory skills in the subject area, and/or corporate/industry training.

Condition of Employment:
This is a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment is subject to grant fund availability.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.

E mployment Benefits: Depending upon length of appointment, selectee may or may not be eligible for full benefits such as health and life insurance, annual (vacation) and sick leave and will be covered under the University of the District of Columbia’s retirement plan (TIAA).
