Lick-Wilmerding High School

Head of School

Founded in 1895, Lick-Wilmerding High School (LWHS) is a profoundly distinctive educational institution known for its tradition of integrating challenging academic courses with technical, performing, and fine arts. A private school with a public purpose, LWHS develops highly motivated students from all walks of life, inspiring them to become lifelong learners who contribute to the world with confidence and compassion.

The School enrolls 540 students and employs 145 faculty and staff members. More than one third of students participate in its Flexible Tuition Program, which is funded by a $6.9 million financial aid budget. The endowment is valued at more than $60 million.

LWHS strives to cultivate a diverse, collaborative community of students and adults rooted in empathy, equity, respect, humility, and accountability. The School’s “Head, Heart, Hands” curriculum provides students with a toolbox with which to build lives of consequence and fulfillment. The challenging and compelling academic program ensures students’ preparedness for college and a lifetime of learning by fostering authentic engagement, love of learning, thoughtful inquiry, and in-depth analysis. Remaining faithful to its century-old history in the technical arts, LWHS offers students a unique collection of shop classes that teach at the nexus of design, engineering, and craft in service of connection, community and purpose.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Head of School oversees all aspects of leading and managing the School, including inspiring all members of the Lick-Wilmerding community to become lifelong learners who contribute to the world with confidence and compassion.

The Head will serve as a visionary leader for LWHS, guiding the future of the School and completing the implementation of the strategic plan
