The Department of Medicine, University of Washington (UW) and VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) are recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) faculty member to join the Division of Gastroenterology based at VAPSHCS. This position is paid directly by the VA and does not include UW salary support.

This position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT). Academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments, that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to be involved in research related to Liver Cancer screening, noninvasive assessment of liver disease, and multidisciplinary approach to the evaluation and management of NAFLD/NASH. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of medical students, residents, and fellows during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, in concert with the GI and Transplant Hepatology Fellowship program. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Anticipated start date will be September, 1 2022.

It is expected the candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the management of Gastroenterology diseases and disorders. The successful applicant will be expected to have at least 5 years of experience providing moderate sedation for endoscopic procedures. In addition, it is expected the candidate will demonstrate a track record of published academic contributions.

Requirements include:

Board Certification in Gastroenterology (or foreign equivalent)

MD Degree (or foreign equivalent)
