Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology

Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a visiting position in Anthropology at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2022 through spring semester 2023. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. We seek a broadly-trained biocultural anthropologist with an excellent teaching record. Geographic area and research specialty is open but interests in human ecology and/or human-environment interactions are preferred. Theoretical specialties should complement existing strengths within the Anthropology department. Individuals from underrepresented groups who can contribute to the growing diversity of our academic community, particularly through their inclusive teaching, are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include teaching a 2/3 course load over the two semesters in 2022-23. The successful candidate will teach 1-2 sections of Introduction to Biological Anthropology each semester, and upper-level courses associated with their area of specialization. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage with the College's liberal arts curriculum and with colleagues and students in interdisciplinary programs.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong preference will go to those with a demonstrable record of excellence in teaching in a liberal arts setting, a commitment to a pedagogical approach grounded in a holistic perspective of the discipline, and an active research agenda. A Ph.D. in Anthropology is preferred; however, applicants who are ABD will be considered.
