  5. May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.
  6. Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.
  7. May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Title: Two-Year Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in the Joshi Voice Lab, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of Houston

A two-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position, beginning Fall 2022, is available with Dr. Ashwini Joshi (PI) in the Joshi Voice Lab, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of Houston. The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with Dr. Joshi on ongoing and new projects focused on post-surgical rehabilitation for benign lesions. An additional year is possible if external funding is secured.

Required Job Duties
  • Conduct specialized and advanced human-centered experiments
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental data, protocols and laboratory operations
  • Contribute to establishing new research protocols and procedures
  • Evaluate and analyze existing and new data
  • Summarize research findings and publish results in peer-reviewed publications and at conferences
  • Contribute to and submit proposals for external funding
  • Mentor doctoral/masters/ undergraduate students
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology, Rehabilitation Sciences or closely related fields with a focus on voice disorders.
  • Candidates with a background in basic science, engineering or coding are encouraged to apply
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and eligibility for Texas state license in SLP is strongly recommended
  • Strong publication record

Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.No experience is required.
