Job Description

The Department of English at Virginia Tech seeks candidates for a two-year position (potential third year renewal) in Creative Writing, with expertise in poetry, at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning August 2022

Responsibilities for the position include the publication of creative scholarship; teaching 3 courses per semester among departmental offerings in our undergraduate and graduate (MFA) creative writing programs; and mentoring and advising graduate students. Required Qualifications

● MFA in Creative Writing (poetry) by the time of appointment (August 2022).
● One or more published or contracted full-length book(s) of poetry.
● Demonstrated potential of significant future research and publication.
● Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of nurturing a diverse and inclusive community.
● Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

● Demonstrated experience in teaching and mentoring graduate students.
● Demonstrated secondary emphasis in the teaching and publication of fiction, creative nonfiction, and/or digital literature.
