Job Duties:
In addition to the duties listed below, instructors must adhere to the general faculty guidelines as specified by Athens State University, and perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Business and the Provost / Vice President for Academic Affairs.

  • Teaching a variety of upper-division Management courses (and courses in a secondary teaching discipline offered within the College of Business, if applicable) in day, night, weekend, distance learning formats and also at various offsite locations
  • Developing and delivering courses in a variety of modes, including online courses that ensure quality and effective assessment
  • Working with a range of students to assist them in reaching goals and learning outcomes
  • Professional development and/or scholarship appropriate for a teaching institution to maintain currency in disciplinary field(s)
  • Maintaining office hours and advising students as defined as required by the college
  • Serving on committees and accreditation efforts as needed
  • Willingness to contribute to the University's mission in terms of undergraduate teaching research, creative activities, community outreach, etc.
  • Assuming any other professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by administrative personnel (i.e., Department Chair, Dean, Provost, President)
  • Involvement with activities in the business community; participating in teaching professional development courses to meet community needs; and developing and supervising internships for students in appropriate curriculum areas

    Required Qualifications:
    · Minimum required: Master’s degree in Management or closely-related field, with a requirement to complete a doctorate and/or complete job related professional development before becoming eligible for tenure. The successful candidate has not only relevant subject matter expertise, but is able to demonstrate quality instructional and technical skill proficiency.·Teaching competence to include 18 graduate semester hours in Management is required.· Preference will be given to candidates who possess 18 graduate semester hours in other program disciplines offered within the College of Business.·Preference will be given to candidates with credentials in HR (e.g. SPHR, SHRM-SCP)·Preference will be given to candidates who have related HR work experience along with experience in undergraduate teaching and scholarship.·Willingness to teach classroom, hybrid and online formats.·Preference will be given to candidates that are actively engaged professionally in their field in related professional organizations.·Prior adjunct experience is preferred.

    Salary Schedule:
    Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions.
