MSW Program Director: The School of
Social Work at Portland State University (PSU) invites applications
for a non-tenure track Master of Social Work (MSW) Program Director
position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor of Practice.
The MSW Program Director is a full-time faculty line with a
three-year renewable appointment. During the 9-month academic year,
the appointment is 1.0 FTE with .75 FTE dedicated to administration
and .25 FTE assigned to instruction. During summer term, the
position varies between .50 to .75 FTE depending on administrative
duties. In addition to administrative leadership of the MSW Program
and instruction, the successful candidate will engage in
professional practice teaching, scholarship of professional
practice, profession-related community engagement, and service to
the School, University, and profession. The successful candidate is
scheduled to begin no later than July 1, 2022.
The PSU MSW Program is ranked in the top 20% of social work
programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and offers
the only public MSW degree in Oregon accredited by the Council on
Social Work Education. The MSW program is the largest social work
program in Oregon, graduating over 200 students a year from the
Portland, Bend, Eugene, and Online options. The program offers
advanced specializations in Advanced Clinical Practice and Advanced
Macro Practice. We are looking for candidates with social work
practice, teaching, and administrative experience who can advance
our commitment to racial equity. We wish to hire candidates with
demonstrated success teaching first-generation students and
students from historically marginalized groups, including: Native
American, African American, Latinx, LGBT and queer students, and
students with disabilities. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a
strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy and engaged learning
and have online teaching and course development experience.
Minimum Qualifications: MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program; Six years post-MSW full-time equivalent practice experience (micro, meso, or macro); Three years of professional teaching or training; Demonstrated interest in the integration of teaching, community engagement, and service to the School, University, state, and profession; Demonstrated ability to understand and support the research needs of TTF faculty in relation to teaching load and other responsibilities required for promotion and tenure; Previous administrative experience.

MSW Assistant Professor, Tenure Track: The School of Social Work program at Portland State University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position will teach primarily in the MSW program (campus, distance and online options). This is a nine-month, full-time academic appointment. Successful applicants will join a growing community of scholars committed to social justice-centered pedagogy, research, and scholarship. Our program seeks candidates with experience teaching across the curriculum and will prioritize candidates who are interested in teaching online. Candidates will have experience, or exhibited potential, in obtaining external funding for research, disseminating their research findings through publications and other media, and bringing their research and practice experience into the classroom. All research areas will be considered, though we especially seek candidates who specialize in immigration; addictions; environmental justice; disability; aging; and/or research with, for, and/or by Native/Indigenous or Black/ African American communities. Candidates who demonstrate an interest in and ability to advance the mission, values, and vision of the School, particularly those with knowledge of emancipatory frameworks, are strongly encouraged to apply. MSW Central Oregon Option Site Coordinator:
Portland State University School of Social Work invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice NTTF (non tenure-track). During the 9-month academic year the appointment is 1.0 FTE with .49 FTE dedicated to administration and .51 FTE assigned to instruction. The MSW Central Oregon Option Site Coordinator will be primarily responsible for coordinating the MSW Central Oregon Option Distance Option, including: recruitment and retention of student cohorts, academic advising, and collaborating with the MSW Program Director on curricular and instructional needs. In addition, the site coordinator will develop and maintain suitable field placement opportunities, coordinate all aspects of the field placement process, provide field liaison and field seminar to the cohort, and maintain the field database for the MSW Central Oregon Option field placements. Candidates should also bring strong knowledge of Central Oregon’s social work and social service landscape and practice communities. The successful candidate is scheduled to begin no later than July 1, 2022.
