The Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy at the University of Washington (Seattle campus) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month appointment, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2022.
The Department is internationally renowned for excellence in research and training in the areas of pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, drug transport, and drug delivery. The Department consists of 13 full-time faculty and 15 affiliates, adjunct, and emeritus faculty. Our graduate program includes approximately 20 Ph.D. and 7 MS students. In addition, the diverse community in the department includes around 5 post-doctoral fellows, 15 research scientists, and 10 administrative and fiscal staff. The vibrant research programs in the department are supported by over $12 million in annual research funding.
The School of Pharmacy houses facilities for state-of-the-art mass spectrometry, cell culture, drug formulation, imaging, and protein expression. The Entrepreneurial Center for WE-REACH housed within the department serves the investigators across the University in training and support to translate research innovations into successful product concepts that attract follow-on funding. The Department and the School of Pharmacy, located in the health sciences complex, is adjacent to the University of Washington’s comprehensive medical center affording the ability to conduct studies in healthy volunteers and patients. The health sciences complex also offers cutting-edge facilities for cryo-electron microscopy, confocal, widefield, and live-cell fluorescence microscopy, high throughput compound screening, animal facilities (including a primate center), and bioanalytical instrumentation. Institutions and centers close to or within the University provide a rich research eco-system supportive of pharmaceutical and biomedical research such as the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children’s Research Institute, Allen Institute of Brain Sciences, Institute of Translational Health Sciences, and Center on Human Development and Disability These resources, combined with the highly collaborative culture, contribute to the outstanding research environment of the University of Washington which consistently ranks as one of the premier research universities in the world.
The ideal candidate will be expected to develop extramurally funded research in drug (small or large molecule) or vaccine delivery, nanomedicine, drug transport, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, systems pharmacology, or pharmacometrics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the professional PharmD program in the area of pharmaceutical sciences, and also, train and mentor graduate and professional PharmD students. All faculty members are expected to provide service to the Department, School, and the University
Qualifications
- A doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related biomedical and bioengineering field is required.
- Strong track record of research and peer-reviewed publications in their focus
