Job Summary

Auburn Athletics is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Communications. Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Communications, this position will direct and manage the communication and social media strategy for Volleyball and an additional sport.

Formal AU title: Specialist, Athletic Media Relations I/II/ III

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
·Oversees communication and social media strategy for assigned sports, working collaboratively with all external units, as well as coaches and administration.
·Ideates effective and forward-thinking creative content for distribution on all multi-media platforms to elevate the Auburn Athletics brand.

·Advises assigned team coaches and student-athletes on most effective social media and communication strategies.

·Designs, edits, produces, and distributes sports information through media guides, game programs and notes, and other appropriate publications.
·Provides information for promotion and distribution to the media.

·Serves as liaison to team and media for interviews and other publicity opportunities to include maintaining relationships with local and national media.

·Coordinates gameday operations to include the issuing of press credentials, preparing game notes, supervising the official stat crew and student assistants, and arranging post-game reports and interviews.

·Maintains records including statistics and historical files.

·Collaborates with other members of the Auburn Athletics External Engagement team, including marketing and fan engagement, War Eagle Productions, creative and digital strategy, and Auburn Sports Properties to increase reach, engagement, drive revenue and assist with recruiting.
·Performs other job duties as assigned.

·Complies with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA ) and Southeastern Conference ( SEC ) regulations in the performance of job duties.

Minimum Education and Experience

Education Level

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Field of Study

Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field

Experience in public relations, media relations, and/or communications services

Requirements for Additional Job Levels

Level II requires 2 years of experience in public relations, media relations, and/or communications services.

Level III requires 4 years experience in public relations, media relations, and/or communications services.
