Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,500 to $3,800 per month

Full classification Salary Range: $3,120 to $5,618 per month

This is a full-time, probationary, non-exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

The incumbent will extract, compile, analyze, and report data on students, instructional offerings, personnel, and other aspects of the university and its external environment as requested. Responsibilities include maintaining and querying large-scale relational databases, troubleshooting, and manipulating data; creating reports; filling ad-hoc data requests and reports; designing and conducting analytical, research, and evaluation studies with interpretive analyses; presenting findings in narrative and graphic forms; and effectively interacting with the university community and external constituencies in carrying out these responsibilities. This position will also need to plan and coordinate various meetings between organizations. The ability to think in a logical, sequential manner is critical for this position and may be demonstrated through experience such as computer programming, i.e., writing codes, scripts, or syntax. A strong customer service orientation is essential, as is the ability to work both independently and in a team. A strong sense of responsibility in meeting deadlines and accurately handling details is required. This position will specialize in faculty data analysis including faculty employment trends, equitable representation, and other faculty-related concerns.

Key Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of research techniques and the methods of preparation of research reports (e.g., descriptive, t-tests, and chi-square)

  • Working knowledge of statistical principles and procedures, including methods of frequency series, data, simple correlation methods, sampling techniques, and construction of index numbers

  • Ability to assist in preparation of questionnaires, gathering and analyzing research data, and in compiling data for reports and summaries in tabular, graphic, and pictorial form

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and prepare detailed written reports and correspondence

  • Ability to create, analyze and evaluate information and provide data for review.

Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by a course in statistics
    • Additional experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities delineated above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
  • One year of experience in technical research or statistical work
    • One year of graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration, or engineering fields may be substituted for the required experience
