POSITION: Full-time non-tenure track appointment in Instrumental Studies – Director of Orchestral Studies
RANK/SALARY: Assistant/Associate Professor of Instrumental Studies, Non-Tenure Track
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as Director of Orchestral Studies in the department of Instrumental Studies; conduct concerts and tours; prepare and conduct major orchestra performances in professional venues; conduct operas; teach graduate and undergraduate courses in instrumental conducting, or other topics related to the candidate’s expertise; advise students; cultivate and maintain relationships with professional musicians and associations and area schools/teachers to facilitate visibility and recruitment; maintain visible profile and active program of scholarly and/or creative activity; engage in appropriate service to the College, the University, and the profession.
QUALIFICATIONS: Outstanding artistic accomplishments as an orchestral conductor. Significant experience conducting orchestras and outstanding orchestral repertoire. Ability to motivate and inspire students of all levels. Established reputation as a conductor and teacher with a consistent record of creativity and/or scholarship. Earned graduate degree in conducting.
