Assistant Professor, Physics
The Department of Physics at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the field of Astronomy starting in August 2020. The appointment is expected to be at the assistant professor level. An appointment at a higher rank might be considered for exceptionally qualified applicants. In particular the Department is seeking qualified candidates who can develop a vigorous research program in the area of observational, computational, or theoretical Astronomy or astrophysics. The Department of Physics is an active department of twelve faculty who are heavily engaged in research areas that include experimental nuclear physics, experimental and theoretical chemical physics, experimental biological and soft matter physics, computational physics, atmospheric sciences and meteorology, general relativity, and condensed matter physics. The department serves both undergraduate and graduate students at the MS and PhD level. The ideal candidate will establish and maintain a vigorous funded research program, collaborate with other science and technology faculty and direct the research activities of graduate students. Mentoring undergraduate research students is also expected. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation processes, program assessment and service to the department, College and University.
